New Headshot, Now What? 7 Places You Might Be Forgetting to Update It
Your new headshot should be working for you
You invested in a professional headshot, downloaded your beautiful new image and updated your LinkedIn profile.
Done, right?
Not quite!
Your professional photo probably appears in more places than you realize. If someone sees a polished new headshot on one platform and a five-year-old selfie somewhere else, your online presence can start to feel inconsistent.
Here are seven places to check after receiving your new headshot.

1. LinkedIn
This is an obvious one, but also one of the most important. Your LinkedIn photo should look current, approachable, and representative of how you would show up to meet a client today.
2. Your company website
Check your About page, team page, bio, and anywhere else your photo may appear.
If your company controls the website, send your updated headshot to whoever manages it.
3. Your email signature
Think about how many emails you send every week!
Adding a professional headshot to your email signature puts a friendly face with your name and can help make communication feel more personal.
4. Your Google Business Profile
If you are the face of your business, professional photos can help potential clients recognize the person behind the company.
Branding images are especially useful here because they can show both you and what you do.
5. Your social media profiles
Check Facebook, Instagram and any professional social platforms you use.
You don't necessarily need the exact same photo everywhere, but your images should feel current and cohesive.
6. Online directories and professional organizations
This one is easy to forget!
Think about:
• association websites• networking groups• professional directories• speaker profiles• real estate profiles• company directories
Search your own name online and see what comes up. You may be surprised by how many old photos are still representing you.
7. Your marketing materials
Business cards, brochures, presentations, digital ads, newsletters, media kits and other marketing materials deserve an update too.
One headshot can do a lot of work
Your professional headshot isn't just a picture. It's part of how people recognize you and your business.
Once you invest in a new one, take 20 minutes and make sure the new YOU is showing up everywhere your clients might find you.
And if your search reveals that your current headshot no longer looks like you, that might be your sign that it's time for a refresh!
