Your senior photos should actually look like YOU

You have the outfits planned. You've picked your location. Now, what should you actually bring to your senior photo session?

Here's the good news:

You don't need a car full of props.

A few meaningful items can add personality and variety to your senior gallery without making your photos feel staged.

Bring an extra outfit

Even if you're pretty sure you know what you want to wear, bring options!

Fall makes layering especially easy. A jacket, sweater, overshirt, or different pair of shoes can change the look of an outfit without requiring a complete wardrobe change.

Consider bringing:

• one dressier outfit• one casual outfit• a jacket or sweater• an extra pair of shoes• simple accessories

Most importantly, choose clothes that feel like something you'd actually wear.

Bring something that represents senior year

What has been a big part of your high school experience?

This is your chance to include it.

Maybe that's:

• a football, volleyball, soccer ball, or other sports gear• a musical instrument• your letterman jacket• dance shoes• books• art supplies• something connected to a club or activity

We don't have to use everything. Bring a few favorites, and we can decide what works best during the session.

Thinking about college? Bring that too!

Already know what's next?

A college sweatshirt, T-shirt, flag, pennant, or other school item can give us a few fun photos celebrating where you're headed.

These are especially fun to have later when you're ready to make your college announcement.

Bring your cap and gown if you have them

If you've already received your graduation cap and gown, bring them along!

We can capture a few graduation-focused images while still making the majority of your session about YOU.

If you don't have them yet, no worries. Cap-and-gown photos can always happen later.

And bring the things that keep you comfortable

A few practical things can save the day:

• water• hairbrush or comb• lip balm• makeup for touch-ups• comfortable shoes for walking between locations• hair ties or clips

New Mexico weather can also change quickly, so having a few extras in the car never hurts.

Your session doesn't need to look like anyone else's

Pinterest can be great for inspiration, but your senior session shouldn't be a copy of someone else's.
